Wearing Wednesday: Star Spangled Style

Can we all just admit that it's kinda fun to go all red, white and blue on the 4th of July? I think so at least.

But I'm kinda cheesy like that.

Dress {worn as shirt}: Forever 21, Skirt: Thrifted {& shortened}, Belt & Shoes: Target

My hometown is known for having the "longest running 4th of July parade west of the Mississippi" so we're kind of a big deal... all seven-or-so-thousand of us.

George Bush {the original} even came to visit us one year. It was pretty cool. Even though I hardly remember it.

Fourth of July in Marshfield is actually pretty great... after the parade there's always vendors set up around the square selling fair food and junk you don't need, it's a time to catch up with people you haven't seen since high school {or at least since the last 4th}, and hear bluegrass and gospel music blaring from the courthouse lawn.

It's also a day for my family to get together and eat way more food than is ever necessary {not that we need an excuse for that!}.

Unfortunately I don't get to spend the day in Marshfield this year {we actually spent the whole day in the car, driving home from a fun few days in Dallas with Derek's brother and sister-in-law}, but I still wanted to dress for the occasion.

It doesn't really feel like the 4th for me without a mustard bathed corndog and all the craziness that comes from hanging out with my Marshfield family, but I hope you're having a fun-filled holiday doing all the stereotypical 4th of July things!

And don't forget to thank a veteran... thanks Dad!

Happy Birthday America!
